No matter which smartphone you’re using over Android 12 OS, if your device is suffering from poor battery life then you can follow our troubleshooting guide below one by one until the problem gets fixed. Please keep in mind that the solutions may not work for everyone in every scenario. However, you can try all of them at least.
Note: Do keep in mind that the following steps might vary depending on your device model or manufacturer. So, you’ll need to dig them out for your particular device respectively.

1. Reboot the device
It’s always recommended to just restart your handset to refresh all the system glitches or cache data issues (if any). Just press and hold the Power button on the device and then select Reboot/Restart.

2. Update the software
Well, updating the device software can easily fix multiple bugs or system glitches. An outdated system version can cause several issues with the device performance, app performance, battery draining, etc.
- Go to the Settings app > Tap on System.
- Go to Advanced and select About phone or System update.
- Tap on Check for updates or Software updates.
- If there is an update available, just download & install the update properly.
- Wait for the device to reboot automatically. If not, manually reboot the device after the update to apply changes.
3. Update all apps
- Open the Google Play Store app on the device.
- At the top right corner of the screen, tap on the profile icon.
- Tap on Manage apps & devices.
- Then under ‘Updates available’, choose to ‘Update all’ apps or a specific app individually.
4. Enable Save Battery Power
- Go to Settings > Tap on Battery.
- If you see a card with advice to restrict an app, tap the card then hit Restrict.
- Tap on ‘Save Power’.
This will reduce the battery draining issue with some apps or services that may run in the background always and cause several issues.
You can also optimize battery usage for all apps via Settings > Battery > More (three dots icon) > Battery usage > Battery optimization.
5. Restrict Battery Usage of Apps
It’s always a better idea to restrict the battery usage of apps on your device to save some battery juice whatsoever. To do so:
- Head over to the Settings menu on your device.
- Go to Battery > Tap on the Battery Usage section.
- Now, make sure to check for the particular apps which can eat up a lot of battery juice.
- Go to the ‘App usage for past 24 hr’ option.
- Tap on the first app in the list and select Restricted from the menu.
- Do the same steps for all suspicious apps.

6. Turn Off Always-On-Display
AOD (Always-On-Display) is one of the useful features for Pixel devices and other AMOLED display devices. But it can also consume a noticeable amount of battery juice on a full day of usage. Go to the ‘App usage for past 24 hr’ option.

7. Disable Mobile Data Always Active

- First, you’ll have to enable Developer Options on your device. To do so: go to Settings > About Phone > Tap on Build Number 7 times.
- Once Developer Options has been enabled, you’ll have to go back to the Developer Options menu via the Settings menu. [Settings > System > Developer Options]
- Now, scroll down to the Mobile Data Always Active option and turn it off.

8. Minimize Screen Timeout
The Screen Timeout option is also one of the most useful yet battery-draining features if you’re using your device too frequently or set the screen timeout in minutes. The more you increase screen timeout, the more it’ll turn on the display even if you don’t use it. In that scenario, the battery will drain faster. You should minimize the screen timeout option in 15-30 seconds maximum. To do this:

- Go to the Screen Timeout option > Select either 15 seconds or 30 seconds maximum.

9. Disable Tap to Wake feature
The Tap to Wake or Raise to Wake feature is quite useful but it can also drain the battery faster. Make sure to disable this feature manually by following the steps below:

- Also, disable the Lift to Check Phone option.

10. Turn Off Adaptive Connectivity

However, the Adaptive Connectivity feature may consume more battery than usual if turned on. You should try turning it off temporarily and then try again. To do this:
- Go to the Settings menu on your device.
- Next, head over to the Network and Internet section > Go to Adaptive Connectivity.
- Now, turn off the toggle to disable it.
11. Factory Reset the device
If none of the methods worked for you then make sure to reset your device to factory defaults by following the steps below. This will easily restore the device settings, user data, etc to fix multiple issues with the system.
Note: Factory Reset will wipe out all the user data from your handset. So, take a backup of the necessary data first.
- Open your device Settings > Tap on System.
- Go to Advanced > Tap on Reset options.
- Select Erase all data (factory reset).
- Confirm the internal storage and tap on Erase all data.
- If prompted, enter the device lock screen PIN/pattern.
- Tap on Erase all data > Wait for the process to get completed.
- Once done, reboot your device to apply changes.
- If you’ve already backed up your data, restore it.
