Samsung smartphones, by default, assign the best possible network mode to them. And in most situations, it works flawlessly as the phone operates on the best network available. But when it comes to this band selection scenario, some sort of customizability can be helpful for some users. If you are someone who knows there is a particular network that is primarily congestion-free in your area, then switching to that band would get you even better results.

But unfortunately, this band switching functionality is unavailable in the native settings menu. But for people who want to switch bands, a couple of options are available. Firstly, they can use a third-party application, or they could do it via ADB commands. And in this article, we will discuss both of them. So without any further ado, let’s get into it.

How to Enable Band Selection Mode in Samsung?

Based on your requirement and choice, you can pick any of the methods mentioned below to use band selection on your Samsung smartphone.

Use third-party application:

  • Download and install the Samsung Band Selection application from the Google Play Store.
  • Once the app is installed, launch it on your phone.
  • Now, tap on the Launch Band Selection button.
  • After this, tap on the hamburger icon in the top left corner of your screen and then select Band Selection.
  • A list of available bands will show up. Tap on your desired band from the list and then turn on the toggle for Selection at the top-right corner.

This is it. Your phone’s network is now coming through the band you just selected on the application. This is a simple process, and we recommend you go for this method if you are unaware of how ADB commands work. But if you often use ADB commands and do not want any extra third-party applications on your smartphone, you could go for the second method.

Use ADB commands:

As mentioned above, this method works for those who know how ADB commands work. This is a bit technical and lengthy process compared to the first one.

  • Download and extract the Android SDK Platform Tools on your PC. Depending on your PC’s OS, download it for Windows, Mac, or Linux.
  • Go to the settings menu on your Samsung smartphone, look for USB debugging in the Developer options and enable it.
  • Then connect your smartphone to your PC where you have installed the Android SDK Platform Tools via a USB cable.
  • Navigate to the platform-tools folder and type cmd in the address bar. Press Enter on your keyboard.
  • The command prompt window will now open up on your screen.
  • Enter the following command in the cmd window and press Enter.

adb shell

  • Now enter the following command in the cmd window again and press Enter. This command will unlock the Band Selection Mode.

am start -n com.samsung.android.app.telephonyui/com.samsung.android.app.telephonyui.hiddennetworksetting.MainActivity

  • You will now be taken to the Network Selection Mode on your smartphone. Tap on the hamburger menu at the top left corner of your screen and select Band Selection here.
  • A list of available bands will show up. Tap on your desired band from the list and then turn on the toggle for Selection at the top-right corner.

And this is it. Your phone’s network is now coming through the band you just selected on the application.
